Again, thanks to our many guests staying at both our hotels and our share houses we once again managed to obtain a number of dishes from countries from all over the world thanks to our monthly cooking party here at Sakura Hotel, Ikebukuro. This week we enjoyed dishes from Russia, Norway, China and Bangladesh.
First from Norway we had the lovely Pia who made Laksesnitter, which is kind of a smoked salmon and cream cheese sandwich with a fresh salad on top, and also Kringle, which, in this case, was a sweet pretzel with cinammon, topped with icing, and when eating provides a sort of fluffy texture with overtones of cinnamon.
Then we had from one of our own members of staff from Bangladesh, Khan, who made for us a variety of snacks, including flafels with a tartar sauce and some onion bhajis which were delicious, if slightly spicy, and although they`re only supposed to a snack you find yourself eating more than you normally should!
We also enjoyed a rather unique style on egg fried rice which, although it looks quite fancy, leaves you feeling refreshed with it`s simple flavour.
Lastly we enjoyed an Olivier salad which was prepared for us by Julia who is from Russia. This salad was filled with many different things, from sausages to beans and pickles and apparently is made for special occasions including birthdays, weddings, and general parties!
So if this seems like fun, or you just love to cook and would like to show us, either one of your favourite recipes or a recipe from your own country that you would like to cook for us then please keep an eye out for our next party and come and join in with us!
