Greetings readers. This is Jonathan at?Sakura Hotel Ikebukuro.
I think that if it can be said that there is one thing that almost all of our guests have in common, which is saying something seeing what a diverse set of guests we have visit us from all over Japan and the world, is that they all come through Ikebukuro Station. I say almost because I can imagine scenarios where it would technically be possible for someone to arrive via taxi or something like that, but I'm qualifying entirely for the sake of thoroughness. Just based on how close our hotel is to the station, it would not be surprising to me at all if we had never had a guest NOT come by way of Ikebukuro Station. Speaking for myself, I initially found it to be a terribly overwhelming place to visit, but have since grown accustomed to it, and can now appreciate its niceties. The bigger stations in Japan, especially those in the Tokyo area, are sort of like miniature airports. Inside and outside the gates you can find stores and restaurants, and I'm not talking about little kiosks either. Today we're going to look at the inside of the JR Line gates (that is to say, after you get off the train, before you pay at the ticket gate).
After you enter the gates, if you have last minute clothes shopping to do on the way to an engagement of some sort (I forgot a polo shirt!), you are covered.
Really though, the Uniqlo was full of some mighty leisurely looking shoppers.
Or may be you want to grab dinner. How about curry?
At Camp Curry, they keep info on hiking trails and all of the staff dress like camp counselors. Perhaps you're wondering if the food is any good. After all, it is inside the train gates.
Well, in short, it's good. Apparently, this curry has your full daily allowance of vegetables in it.
Or you can grab a drink at the London Pub.
It being Japan, of course there is a convenience store handy.
So there is just one layer of the onion that is ikebukuro Station peeled away for you. However, that is just one layer of many, that I hope to be able to have the opportunity to write about for you soon.
And with that, I will simply say, thanks for reading!
